We source the highest-grade, fair trade, natural ingredients available. When certified organic options exist, we always choose them — not because it's trendy, but because it's right. No compromises. No cutting corners for the sake of margin.

The Water We Use
Most soapmakers use tap water. We believe you deserve better than that.
Every batch of Ridge & Root soap begins with water that has been through our full purification process. We strip out microplastics, heavy metals, chlorine, and other contaminants using a reverse osmosis filtration system. But we don't stop there.
After purification, we re-mineralize the water and carefully balance its alkalinity — restoring the minerals nature intended while ensuring perfect chemistry for soap making. The result is water that's as pure and nourishing as nature intended.

The Bar That Started It All
When Darlene's 13-year-old son began struggling with sensitive skin and acne, she did what any devoted mother-slash-soapmaker would do — she went to the workshop and created something extraordinary, just for him.
No harsh chemical cleansers. No pharmaceutical strip-down. Just carefully chosen, purposeful ingredients working in harmony. She spent weeks researching, formulating, and refining — then cured the final bar for four full weeks to ensure it was perfectly saponified and pH balanced.
His skin transformed. The results spoke for themselves.
That bar is now one of Ridge & Root's most beloved products — born not from a market opportunity, but from a mother's love.

pH Tested — Every Single Bar
Before any bar leaves Darlene's workshop, it's pH tested. She will never sell a bar that isn't perfectly balanced. Your skin's natural pH sits around 4.5–5.5, and she honors that with every batch.
The Lick Test — Our "Secret" QA Protocol
Every bar that comes out of Darlene's workshop has to pass The Lick Test before it ever sees a customer. The science is simple: if there's too much lye in a batch, one lick of the lather will give you a small electric "zap" on your tongue — nature's way of saying it's not ready. The art of the test, however, is deciding who actually has to do it. Darlene's husband holds the standing nomination — a role he did not apply for, has never accepted gracefully, and regularly tries to renegotiate. So far, the nomination stands. He licks. She records the result. The bar ships. Nobody's been zapped yet, but he remains unconvinced this should be a permanent arrangement.

Home Tested First — Always
Every product Darlene sells has been tested at home first, on real people with real skin. If it doesn't pass her family's standards, it never reaches a customer. Period.

Imported Organic Peruvian Cocoa Butter
Sourcing NotesWe imported a 24-kilo BLOCK of Organic Cocoa Butter from Peru. Darlene had me in the kitchen with a mallet and a chisel literally chipping away at it for hours. Tough work - but smelt amazing!
